Winter Maintenance Tips

Winter is hard on all floors, including hardwood. Here are a few maintenance tips:

❑ Vacuum regularly.

❑ Use mats in front of entryways and kitchen sinks.

❑ Wipe up liquid spills promptly.

❑ Apply felt tack or other fl oor protectors to the bottoms of chair legs and movable furniture.

Colorado Tennis Magazine Salutes Bruce MacDonald

One Coloradoan who knows the value of the Colorado Youth Tennis
Foundation is Bruce MacDonald, the owner of MacDonald Hardwood.
Bruce has donated to the CYFT for many years. He sees his financial
support as an investment in the future of Colorado’s kids. “I have a
definite passion for the game,” says Bruce. “I am a Colorado native,
my father plays tennis and I love the sport, so the CYTF seemed like
a natural place for me to give.

Bruce knows how tennis can positively affect kids. “Athletics and tennis have a direct connection with a kid’s confidence maturity and overall good will,” he says. “That why I support the Colorado Youth Tennis Foundation.”

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We do love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the “Chrysler Eagle” the “ Chrysler Beagle”?

Q: I have a 60 lb. dog. I would like to put a hardwood fl oor in my family room. What type of wood would you suggest?

A. I would recommend oak because it has a heavy grain that helps hide scratches. (P.S. I have a 60 lb dog also. What you have to do is keep your dog’s nails well trimmed.)

Q: Will the use of humidifi er help my hardwood fl oors?

A. The use of a humidifi er will not only help your fl oors but will create a softer air and a more comfortable living environment in your home. The optimum level of humidity should be about 30 percent although when it is desert-like dry, 20 percent will work.
